Building and attracting links is one of the most difficult parts of SEO.
It’s also one of the most important. Links are still a top ranking factor in Google, if not the #1 ranking factor. Google’s entire algorithm was built around links from day one.
Today I’m going to give you a simple strategy you can use in your SEO campaigns that can do what many believe is nearly impossible: attract links passively.
We are going to do it with the help of AI.
Fair warning, this strategies is best used with established websites. You need to rank the pages you are going to create, and that is much easier with an established website than a brand new one.
Build a tools people in your industry would use with the help of AI
This method is easier today than it has ever been. A few years ago, to do this you would have needed to hire a coder or to have some coding skills yourself.
That is no longer the case.
Now you can use ChatGPT to build just about any idea you come up with.
The concept is pretty simple. Create an interactive tool that people in the industry you are targeting might use.
These ideas do not have to be overly complex. Keep it simple.
For example, let’s say you are working in order fulfillment or some other niche relating to ecommerce.
if you search for free sku generator, sku generator, sku generator for free, or any close variation of that, you will see a tool created by Zoho.

This is a really simple tool that can easily be built with no coding experience and the help of AI.

According to Semrush, this page has links from 22 different domains so far.

At the top of the list of links are PayPal and NetSuite. Both of the articles on these sites are articles explaining what stock keeping units (SKUs) are.
Now, I don’t know for sure that PayPal and NetSuite chose to link to this page on their own, or any of the other 20 domains. However, can you see how someone writing about SKUs, including a section about how to generate SKUs, might do a Google search and link to one of the top ranking pages?
That’s what we are after.
3Dsellers SKU generator page used to rank #1 before Zoho and others moved in. According to Semrush, this page has links from 10 different domains.

A term like sku generator is not very difficult to rank for and putting together a tool like this would take 1-2 hours in ChatGPT depending on your prompting skills.

If you really want to power up your link building with this method, after building the tool add in some outreach.
And you don’t have to limit this to just one tool.
Sticking in the ecommerce niche, what other kinds of tools might an ecommerce business use?
How about a product description generator?
Search for that term, and you will find sites like CopyAI, Ahrefs, and ShipBuddies have created these.
CopyAI’s tool page has links from 66 domains, Ahrefs from 131 domains, and ShipBuddies, which was just recently launched, has links from 3 domains.

How about a return policy generator?
WebsitePolicies.com has one and the page has links from over 100 domains.

Redstag Fulfillment built a DIM weight calculator.

Links from 139 other domains.
Omnicalculator and FedEx have also built DIM weight calculators.

This is just ideas in one specific niche.
Again, a few years ago this method of link building would have been much more resource intensive. You would have needed to hire programmers to do this.
Today, with the help of AI, these sort of tools are easy to build with no coding experience, and they are easy to embed on a webpage after that.
How do I know?
Because here is a SKU generator I built in about 10 minutes: https://theseopub.com/here-is-a-sku-generator/
And here is the ChatGPT chat showing how I built it.
Admittedly, I would spend some extra time styling it and improving it, but the point is to show how simple it can be to build resources like this.
